Guesthouses Supplied - The Karoo Area

We are very proud to have such elegant, upmarket and stylish guest houses, game lodges and hotels as part of Karoo Lavender.

Showcased here, in no particular order,  are some of the customers we supply in the Karoo.

Graaff-Reinet:  Cypress Cottages

These two charming cottages date back to the 1800s and combine authentic Karoo style and ambience with every modern comfort. Beautifully restored and furnished with antiques, they face each other across the shady quiet of one of the most picturesque streets in the town. Each cottage has its own private garden. All our beautiful rooms are air-conditioned (cooling and heating), with en-suite bathrooms, white linen & towels, DSTV and flowers from our lovely garden.

Our rate includes a full Karoo breakfast (cereals, yoghurts, fruits from the orchard, our own free-range eggs, and bacon). We are right next to the nature reserve, nestled in the shadow of Spandau’s Kop – an easy walk takes you right into the best of Karoo nature. The town centre is an easy 10-minute walk, where we organize dinners at any one of our variety of good restaurants. We have swimming facilities in our bore-hole-fed dam and secure off-street parking. Trampoline and swings on the spacious lawn for the kiddies. As the Gem of The Karoo, this town warrants a two-night stopover.

Graaff-Reinet:  Langfontein Guest House

Langfontein Guest Farm is situated in the scenic Camdeboo Conservancy 50km from Graaff-Reinet.  The fully equipped, individually decorated self-catering cottages all have fireplaces, verandas with beautiful views, comfortable lounges and spacious bedrooms with crisp linen.

Cradock:  Die Tuishuise & Victoria Manor

Die Tuishuise are beautifully restored Victorian-era Karoo-style guest houses lining historic Market Street and leading up to Victoria Manor, a grand, colonial hotel circa 1848. Period prints and antique furniture create elegant spaces within the cottages, reflecting the lifestyles of the English and Dutch Settlers at the turn of the century.  The Victoria Manor Hotel on the corner of Market Street offers beautifully decorated en-suites, dining and conference facilities.   Dining at Victoria Manor is a country affair, an indulgence of superb traditional Karoo and South African food - evening meals are by candlelight. For relaxation of the body and mind, Die Tuishuise & Victoria Manor has a health, beauty and wellness centre called 'Karoo Comfort Zone'.

Graaff-Reinet:  @Karoo Guesthouse

Centrally situated @Karoo Guesthouse offers from self-catering units to double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms as well as rooms for single travellers.

@Karoo serves as a newly renovated and updated version of this historic building, which originally opened its doors as the first guesthouse in Graaff-Reinet dating back to the 1950s.

Bloemhof is ideal for family getaways or overnight stops and is well situated between Three Sisters and Richmond, just 5km off the N1.  We look forward to welcoming you with our authentic Karoo hospitality.

Graaff-Reinet:  de Kothuize

De Kothuize consists of seven lovingly restored classic Cape Karoo houses in historic Graff-Reinet, Eastern Province.  Most are national monuments and have been furnished and equipped in a manner which is harmonious with their historical character.  All have modern amenities.

Four of the properties are situated on Parsonage Street, Graaff-Reinet’s most historic street (stretching from Reinet House at one end to the Drostdy Hotel at the other), which is the core of the oldest part of town.  The other three houses are situated in (or adjacent to) Cradock Street, sometimes described as a “one mile and 230 years of history”, being full of historic houses, but close to the town’s museums and other facilities.

Willowmore:  Finchley Farm

Finchley Farm is conveniently located 3 kilometres outside the Karoo town of Willowmore, Eastern Cape Province, South Africa on the Prince Albert Road.

The beautifully restored farm cottage is located in the shady garden of the homestead. The cottage, dating back to the late 1800s, is fully equipped for self-catering and tastefully furnished and decorated with numerous historic items which will without doubt be of interest to visitors.

The geographic location of the Cottage makes it suitable for rustic accommodation for the visiting businessman or for the family that wants to experience a Karoo Farm Stay and day-to-day life on a working Karoo farm.

Graaff-Reinet:  The Stone Cottage

Graaff-Reinet:  de Erf Manor House

About 3 km directly south of Graaff-Reinet, the majestic Spandaukop towers over an almost forgotten architectural relic of early Graaff-Reinet, the homestead of the farm De Erf which lies along the Sundays River.

The building, with its whitewashed walls and towering gables, was built circa 1806. It has the distinctive Cape Dutch H-shape design which it shares, in Graaff-Reinet, only with Reinet House. Almost all of the outbuildings used over the years such as the forge, coach house and blacksmith’s shop are still intact and have been renovated and converted into a guest house of note.

The owners Gordon and Rose Wright, invite you to become part of this experience, Karoo hospitality at its best. Bedrooms are cosy and with comforts and extras to pamper.
